I have been out of tennis for 5 months - and it shows in my endurance and consistency.
Today I tried to hit a 100+ rally from the deuce side and then from the ad side and it wasn’t going well.
I started to hear my inner voice - it was saying, “you can’t play anymore - you suck!” But then I reminded myself that words become reality.
So I changed the tone - instead reminding myself that I’m doing well considering I’ve had both my feet operated - and that I should relax, enjoy and be grateful that I’m back on the court again!
And what do you know? We effortlessly hit 100 on both sides!
Note to self: be kind to yourself and others - it improves the quality of the game and your life too!
